Marketing to the max!

Okay, so you have decided to follow your dreams and start your own business, now how should you promote it?  You've thought, "I'll just google it and find some wonderful marketing guru's and they will make me an overnight success."  That is a wonderful thought but not always true, now let me tell you my marketing story for my business Peacock Pottery since we opened our doors 6 years ago:

I actually have a Marketing degree from St. Cloud State University, marketing for my business should be a breeze.  The only problem is that the marketing world has changed dramatically since I went to college, I am a smart woman, but still there are times when you have to admit that you need help.

When I started my business, I worked on all of my promotional materials (brochures & postcards).  I knew that I could design my own business cards, but printing them myself wouldn't be portraying the professional image I wanted to have as a serious business.  So I called a friend who works for a printing company, we designed the business cards together and I love them.  Next on my business plan was learning how to market the business and get customer's to my "virtual door".

First stop was Google* - it was a no - brainer, I would learn how to market online utilizing all of the social media outlets and the sales would just come flooding in, right??  Well, I signed up with Google* Ad Words and admittedly the sales did come, the business was growing steadily for the first 3 years, but it cost A LOT of money.  Then the economy started to slow down and so did my business, I had a choice to make, should I pull the national advertising or keep it and continue to spend the money with no guarantee of return on investment?  I decided to pull the advertising and save the money, I was sure I could do this on my own.  My mistake, I was getting frustrated trying to learn all the in's and out's of the social media world.  One night my life changed forever.

I was on the internet, researching inexpensive ways to market my business, my sales had declined significantly and I wasn't willing to quit.  A link to the Mommy Perks website came up, I clicked on it and was intrigued.  I went to bed, the next night I tried to remember the name of the site and couldn't, so I goggled inexpensive marketing again and the Mommy Perks website came up again.  I researched it more and decided to take a shot and hire them to promote my business.  My gut feeling kept telling me that this was the company I needed to partner with, it has been the best decision of my business life.

Since working with Mommy Perks I have learned how to use Twitter* & Facebook successfully, the real meaning of online networking, creating a newsletter & blog.  I've done a lot more work, but it is also bringing more sales to a new clientele - how awesome is that???  I've learned about streamlining my website, properly tagging my photos (a work still in progress) and most importantly, SEO.  I am now marketing my business in ways I would never have thought of pursuing before, all because of a little nighttime internet surfing!

I know you are thinking that I have spent thousands of dollars on marketing, not with Mommy Perks!  They are there to help the small business owner succeed, the prices are low and the marketing exposure is to the max!  You know the old saying "You get what you pay for."  not at Mommy Perks - their motto should be "You get MORE then you paid for - we are here to promote YOU."

Thank you to Mommy Perks for your Marketing to the Max, I appreciate it!
