Sally Ann Cookies

If my Grandma Mabel were still alive today, she would be 105 yrs old and she would probably still be baking!  She was a wonderful cook, whenever you stopped by her house, even unannounced, she had fresh baked cookies on hand and a cup of coffee.  This was always my favorite cookie, I hope you enjoy them too!

1 C Oil
1 C Sugar
1 C Molasses
1 C Milk
4 t soda
1/4 t nutmeg
1 t salt
2 t ginger
2 t cinnamon
5 C flour

Cream sugar, oil, milk and molasses.  Start adding dry ingredients.  Mix thoroughly.  Chill for 1 hour in refrigerator.  On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4" thickness and use your favorite cookie cutter (I use a spam can because this is how my grandma made them - memories).  Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375 for 8 - 10 minutes.

Frosting
1 envelope unflavored Knox Gelatin
3/4 C granuated sugar
3/4 C water
Mix in a saucepan, bring to boil slowly over medium heat, continue boiling for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Remove from heat add 3/4 C powdered sugar, 1 t vanilla and another 1/2 C powdered sugar.  Beat until smooth.  Frost quickly, frosting will harden when starting to cool.  If it cools, reheat in a double boiler.  Makes 4 dozen
