Baking with Polish Pottery
A typical comment I hear when showing Polish Pottery to first time users "It is too pretty to use, I would just display it in my curio cabinet". I almost want to scream "NOOOO!" Polish Pottery is to be used, it is not only beatiful, but it is DURABLE!
I have 2 boys, ages 2 & 7 and they are rough and tumble boys! But, they only want to eat their cereal out of Polish Pottery bowls, for some reason they seem to think it tastes better! I have taught them to put their dishes in the sink after eating and I would be lying if I said it didn't make me nervous the first time they dropped the Polish Pottery bowls in the sink. But I kept telling myselft that if they broke, I could replace them. Well, needless to say, nothing has broke or chipped - they are so durable!!
I have an older brother who mentioned to my mother about not having a pizza pan to bake either frozen pizza or make his own. So of course, my mother came shopping at Peacock Pottery (she's my best customer!!), she bought him a round platter for his birthday. Being a typical man, he wasn't thrilled, I told him to try it - he might just like it. Well, a week later he had to admit that he used it to make a pizza and it was GREAT! The pizza was crispy and baked evenly - he was sold!
I always love hearing the stories of how wonderful people think the pottery is once they get "over the hump" and start baking with it and using it on a daily basis.
