Are you ever to old to learn???

I know the old saying - "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" - I'm sure you have heard it a time or two yourself.  But is it true?  Can old dogs learn new tricks?  Recently, we adopted a 3 yr. old dog and are working on training her to fetch a ball - slowly, but surely she is getting it - although not quite quick enough for our boys, but still she is learning at her own pace.  I believe that a person is never to old to learn new things as long as their mind is open to the possibilities.

I am a woman in my 40's and quite honestly am amazed what this "old broad" can do!  When I was in high school, our computer lab consisted of 2 computers shoved into a small magazine room - yep, it was tight corners, but it was my introduction to the world of computers.  It was fun to learn basic information about computers, but honestly, when I was young, could never see myself doing anything with computers - they were for "boring, geeky people"

Well, now I am one of those people!  Since I decided to start Peacock Pottery, I checked into websites - but what did I know about setting up a website?  Zilch - Zero - Nada - there were many late nights perusing the internet, learning how to create a website with terminology that I just didn't understand.  I often think about where my business and website started and where they are now - 5 years later - what a significant difference.  I am learning daily about HTML, SEO, hyperlinks etc. - although I am not creating websites from scratch, I am happy with all the things I have learned.

One of my personal pet peeves with websites - is that sometimes (often) companies don't update / refresh their website.  If I am going to visit a website , I want to know that the company is taking care of all aspects of the business and keeping their website information up to date is important to me.  This is why I am always updating my website, blog etc., I WANT customers to keep coming back.

Tonight I will be working on the New Peacock Pottery E-newsletter - again something I am unfamiliar with doing.  I'm sure mistakes will be made along the way - but I will learn from them and just keep moving forward, one step at a time.

Moral of the story:  Don't ever stop learning new things - "old broads" are never too OLD to learn!
